“Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”  [Matthew 11:28]

Many are familiar with the words of our Savior’s blessed invitation where He pleads with all to come to Him for the rest that He alone can provide. To that one who is tired of laboring with a guilty conscience and the weight of sin, our Lord, through forgiveness, offers to relieve and lift that burden. But as wonderful as that offer is, one must understand the personal responsibility that is theirs to…

Come unto Me…Our Lord is, “the way, the truth, and the life.” No one else is able to relieve the burden of sin and grant the rest that He offers. But our Lord would also have all understand that, “if anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me (Matthew 16:24). Our Lord offers forgiveness, but also requires a change in the way one will live their life. Even as He invites all to come to Him, He goes on to say that one must…

Take My yoke upon you…A yoke is a wooden bar placed across the neck of animals to guide and direct them. The one who would come to our Lord must be willing to submit to His will; to let Him determine the direction in which he or she will go; to guide them through life. The Savior who loved us enough to give Himself for us also wants us to surrender to Him in trust and devotion…

And learn from Me...One must continue to come to and sit at the feet of our Savior and listen to His teaching.  One must recognize the critical need to hear what our Lord has to say and be willing to living by those teachings.  Such is the nature of a disciple of Jesus.

If we can help you in any way to come to our Lord, please let us know.
